The company did not disclose pricing for the model but said the vehicle is expected to target the luxury segment priced above 400,000 yuan ($58,040). The Datang is scheduled for an official market launch in the first half of the year.

The pure electric version of the Datang is equipped with BYD's second-generation Blade Battery and offers a driving range of up to 950 kilometres, which the company said is currently the longest range among large battery-electric SUVs globally.

The vehicle also features megawatt-level flash-charging technology designed to reduce charging times. Built on a 1,000-volt high-voltage architecture, the Datang can gain enough energy for daily commuting after about five minutes of charging, according to BYD.

In terms of performance, the all-wheel-drive version can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 3.9 seconds.

The Datang measures more than 5.2 metres in length and has a wheelbase of 3,130 millimetres. The SUV adopts a 2+2+3 seven-seat configuration designed to offer a spacious interior.

Inside the cabin, the vehicle is equipped with a 3-nanometre cockpit chip and a 27-speaker audio system. The second row features dual zero-gravity independent seats, a feature typically associated with higher-end luxury vehicles.

For intelligent driving functions, the Datang is fitted with the God's Eye advanced driver assistance system and a roof-mounted LiDAR unit, enabling assisted driving capabilities on both urban roads and highways.

The vehicle also includes BYD's DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension system and rear-wheel steering, technologies aimed at improving ride comfort and handling.

The Tang series currently represents the flagship SUV range in BYD's Dynasty lineup. Existing models include the Tang L DM and Tang DM-i plug-in hybrids as well as the all-electric Tang L EV, with starting prices ranging from 179,800 yuan to 289,800 yuan.
