BYD expands into Egypt with three-model NEV initial lineup
On February 4, 2026 (local time), BYD officially made its entry into the Egyptian market by partnering with Mansour Group, marking another significant milestone in its expansion across the Middle East and Africa.

The automaker introduced three new energy vehicles tailored for local consumers: the BYD DOLPHIN SURF, BYD SEALION 6 EV, and BYD SEALION 6 DM-i. This trio forms the company's inaugural lineup in Egypt.
Targeting urban commuters, the BYD DOLPHIN SURF-a compact and affordable battery-electric sedan-emphasizes efficiency. The BYD SEALION 6 EV, a fully electric SUV, merges high performance, comfort, and smart features, including an advanced suite of driver assistance systems. The BYD SEALION 6 DM-i, on the other hand, utilizes BYD's cutting-edge plug-in hybrid technology to offer an optimal blend of electric driving and extended range, catering to those requiring flexibility for longer journeys while maintaining energy efficiency.
BYD's expansion into Egypt signifies a pivotal move in its broader ambition to strengthen its presence across the Middle East and Africa. Presently, the company operates in 30 countries and regions within these markets, establishing itself as a prominent force driving a shift toward cleaner transportation systems.
Looking ahead, BYD intends to deepen partnerships with regional collaborators, fortify its local operations, and broaden its portfolio of sustainable mobility solutions. By deploying innovative new energy vehicle technologies, the company aims to contribute to the evolution of cleaner and sustainable transport infrastructure across the region.
Data from January 2026 underscores BYD's robust growth, with total vehicle sales hitting 210,051 units, of which passenger vehicles accounted for 205,518 units. Notably, international sales of passenger vehicles and pickups reached 100,009 units during the month-a remarkable 43.3% increase compared to the same period last year. This achievement underscores the growing importance of overseas markets in BYD's global strategy, as international demand becomes an increasingly significant driver of its expansion.
