What Are The Types Of Hybrid Cars

Leave a message

The two drive systems of a hybrid car can operate together in different ways, and their drive types can also have different weights.

Micro hybrid vehicles, light hybrid vehicles and full hybrid vehicles
Different types of hybrid vehicles have different levels of electrification. Research by the German Automobile Association (ADAC) shows that hybrid cars can save 15-25% of fuel compared to internal combustion engine cars, and plug-in hybrid cars can save even more.

Micro hybrid car
The micro-hybrid uses an automatic start-stop system to recover braking energy, which is then stored in a typical 12V starter battery. However, the car is powered only by an internal combustion engine, which explains why, in many drive categories, the micro-hybrid system is not classified as a hybrid. In other words, a micro-hybrid vehicle is a vehicle with an internal combustion engine drive system and well-designed drive electronics. Low level of fuel saving.

Light hybrid car
In contrast to micro-hybrid vehicles, the drive system of light hybrid electric vehicles (MHEV) contains a motor, but it cannot operate independently and must be used to assist the internal combustion engine. For example, during acceleration, increase the power of the engine. In addition to the usual 12V battery, the light hybrid system also houses a 48V battery. Due to the increased voltage, it recovers more braking energy compared to micro-hybrid systems. Since the motor can be shut down more frequently and for longer periods of time, the efficiency of the automatic start-stop system is improved. Compared to conventional internal combustion engine vehicles, light hybrid vehicles can save up to 15 percent of fuel.

Fully hybrid car
A fully hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) has an electric motor and an internal combustion engine that work together flexibly and intelligently. It also enables pure electric driving, but is usually only suitable for short drives of several miles. Unlike the light hybrid car, the full hybrid car does not have an additional 48V battery installed, but it has a high-voltage traction battery of hundreds of volts. The power of the motor is also higher than that of light hybrid cars. According to the German Federal Environment Agency, fully hybrid cars can save more than 20 percent of fuel compared to cars with pure internal combustion engines.
