Toyota unveils Wildlander and bZ7 models in China

GAC Toyota has unveiled the Wildlander gasoline model and bZ7 electric sedan at Auto Guangzhou 2025. The launches marked the first time Toyota's China joint venture has introduced two major models within 24 hours in its 21-year history.

The Wildlander, known as the RAV4 in overseas markets, features Toyota's first China-developed intelligent cockpit powered by domain-control architecture. The model includes a 15.6-inch display, large-language-model voice interaction and more than ten gesture-control functions. It is built on Toyota's fifth-generation THS hybrid system.

The bZ7 electric flagship sedan features dual-chamber air suspension, a HarmonyOS-powered cockpit and LiDAR-based driving assistance. The model is not yet available for sale outside China and represents Toyota's electric vehicle offerings in the Chinese market.

GAC Toyota's sales approached 640,000 units from January to October, with annual production expected to reach 770,000 units. The company operates as one of the automakers in China supplying both gasoline and electric vehicle products.

The launches underscore Toyota's localisation efforts in China, particularly in research and development and supply-chain management. The automaker is expanding both its bZ electric vehicle brand and electrified vehicle lineup in the market.
