Kia India has updated its Carens Clavis EV for the 2026 model year, adding new trims and introducing a 6-seater configuration as it looks to broaden the model's appeal in a growing EV market.

The update comes as buyers move beyond range-focused decisions, with greater emphasis on comfort, in-cabin experience, and design.

The updated Carens Clavis EV is priced between ₹17.99 lakh and ₹24.99 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant, battery pack, and seating configuration.

Captain seats added for more flexibility

The biggest change is the introduction of a 6-seater layout with second-row captain seats. This option will be available across multiple trims, including HTX (E), HTX, HTX+, GTX, GTX+ and X-Line.

Kia said the move is driven by customer feedback, with the new layout aimed at improving passenger comfort and offering more personal space. The 7-seater version will continue to be sold alongside it.

GT-Line and X-Line to target styling-conscious buyers

The company has also introduced GT-Line and X-Line trims on the extended range variant.

The GT-Line (GTX, GTX+) brings sportier design elements such as new alloy wheels, lime-coloured brake calipers and metal pedals.

The X-Line, in contrast, leans towards a darker, more rugged look, with a new Dark Gun Metal exterior shade and blacked-out styling elements.

Features such as a digital key and battery heater are limited to higher variants like GTX+ and X-Line.

No change to battery and performance setup

The mechanical setup remains unchanged.

The Carens Clavis EV continues with two battery options - a 42 kWh pack with a claimed range of 404 km and a 51.4 kWh pack with a claimed 490 km range (ARAI-certified).

It is powered by motors producing up to 126 kW and 255 Nm of torque. Fast charging allows the battery to go from 10% to 80% in about 39 minutes.
