According to the proportion of motor drive power to the vehicle power (also known as the hybrid degree), hybrid vehicles can generally be divided into the following four types: (1) micro hybrid, the hybrid degree is within 5%; (2) Mild hybrid power, the general mixing degree is about 20%; (3) Medium hybrid power, the mixing degree can reach 30%~40%; (4) Heavy hybrid power, mixing degree of more than 40%.
(1) Series plug-in hybrid power
Series plug-in hybrid, also known as extended-range. The engine does not directly drive the car, it needs to be driven by the engine to generate electricity, and then power the motor to drive the car, the energy transmission chain is long, and the overall efficiency is not high. The representative models are BMW i3 extended-range.
(2) Parallel plug-in hybrid power
This type of engine and motor can drive the car, more power transmission mode, good power, simple structure, widely used, is the mainstream technical route. The representative models are BYD Tang DM.
(3) Hybrid plug-in hybrid power
Also known as power shunt type. Generally, two motors (a generator and an electric motor) are required, along with a set of planetary gears for power distribution. This type has the most complex structure and control. At present, only a few manufacturers have the ability to produce and manufacture this type of product, and there are certain patent barriers. The representative models are the Toyota Prius.
